Children’s Research Center-Turkey is at Darüşşafaka Primary School

The first five week application of the Children’s Research Program for the academic year of 2011-2012 has been completed by the Children Research Center, the program was also conducted last year with the 5th grade students. In the first three weeks of the program, children studied on the questions “What is research?”, “Who is a researcher?”, “Have you ever done a research?”, “What is the thing you are most curious about?” through some activities. An astronomer, Büşra Gürbak; the vice-principal of the 4th grade, Neşe Eşer; the vice-principal of the 5th grade, Demir Sipahi; the PYP and the projects coordinator, Meltem Ceylan Alibeyoğlu participated in the activities as observers to the program conducted by the teachers of the 5th grade and Derya Şahhüseyinoğlu, Ph.D. 

Teacher Seminar at the Darüşşafaka Schools

A seminar entitled “Scientific Thinking Method” was organized at the Darüşşafaka Schools for primary and secondary school teachers. Science education, the related skills and teaching methods, the role of science education and scientific research method were the focus of the seminar conducted on 7th-8th September 2011. Workshop and brainstorming activities were conducted with the participant teachers.
